Condolences

Condolence From: Lynne Kerr
Condolence: Geoff was so many wonderful things to so many people.I remember him as a true gentleman and a great Latin teacher.....he got me through it and even showed me how to like it...and whenever we met we shared a Latin greeting and a big hug.He will always be a part of TCS and the School family.Whenever I went back it was Geoff who would find me and make me feel at home once again.I know so many of the students who met him when they were in grade five were awed by his accomplishments and his kindness to and interest in each one of them. He did so much for The School, for St Mark's and for Port Hope and many organizations that his legacy will live long and shine brightly.
Ave Magister... Beate mundo corde ......we will miss you.

Condolence: As a student a TCS, I will not forget him taking moments to commend and encourage all sorts of students for the whatever they managed to achieve. He carried around a note book of those achievements, and would walk around the dining hall visiting each boy on the list, and literally giving them a pat on the back. Small efforts, but clearly indicative of his dedication to the profession and the students. I am sincerely grateful for his efforts and outstanding character. Condolences to all his family and friends.

Condolence: I called Mr. Dale "my honorary Grandfather." The friendship between him, Prue, and my grandmother Sylvia was so important and much-cherished by our family. I'll always be grateful to him for the life at TCS, St. Mark's, & Port Hope they created for Granny and my father, and to our wonderful correspondence and his love for my family over the years. I'll always remember what he used to say about people who have gone on, paddling just ahead behind the next island, or the ship that crossed over and was heralded with joy. He was, indeed, a true gentleman.

Our condolences to the family. I'll miss him dearly.

Condolence: Mr. Dale was one of the brightest stars and finest gentleman I was privileged to know while at TCS. I will always remember his lovely smile, wicked sense of humour, and the endearing way he always tipped his hat to a lady. RIP dear, dear Mr. Dale.

Condolence: To the Dale Family:
Geoff was a gentleman. In 1980, he was one of a handful of TCS members who welcomed us and tried to guide us through the arcane worlds of birding and independent schooling. In the years since we have always been happy to pass time with him whenever we met. In retirement, he has been a staunch member of our Tuesday luncheon group of retirees. We are going to miss him.

Condolence: I met Geoff only at Toronto Scottish Regiment Senate meetings and welcomed his warm smile and calm demeanor. He was always the gentleman. He was ever the schoolmaster and wrote charming notes on articles. We shall miss and remember him.
Please accept my apology for not attending the funeral and my condolences, on behalf of the Toronto Scottish Regimental Association, to all of Geoff's family.

Condolence: Geoff Dale was one of my favourite people in the whole world. Smart (making Greek and Latin live), funny, kind. Growing up a block away, the Dale home felt like an extension of my family. He gave me a nickname which I have always treasured. And, he helped me navigate my way through the U of T calendar to choose my courses and complete the application, at a time when our PHHS guidance counselor didn’t see the point of young women going to university. I am sure over his many productive years, Geoff helped many people like me.

My sincere condolences to Penny, Frank, Ian, Maggie and the entire family. Thinking too of Barbara and Prue.

Condolence: I felt sadness when my sister told me yesterday about Mr. Dale passing on.
The last two times I've seen him was when he came to my Mum's funeral service back in 2000 at St. Mark's, then to my brother Stephen's in 2010. It was so very kind and thoughtful of him.

What I’ve heard over the years about him was how much he contributed hugely to TCS and the students that attended there, and to the community of Port Hope. He had a special way of being. So alive, so vital, so welcoming.

My sincere condolences to you Penny, and to all your family.
