Obituary for Gloria Jane Smith (Douglas)
Peacefully at Peterborough Regional Health Centre, on Monday June 5, 2023 in her 79th year after a hard, lengthy fight, Gloria passed with the love of her family in her heart. Beloved wife of 60 wonderful years to Frederick Smith, her first and only love. Devoted mother of Garth, Joseph (Margaret), Marylou (Stacy), Laurie, Timothy (Carrie), Willie (Donna) and of course, Pugsley. Adoring grandmother of Charlie, Michelle, Ellymay, Anthony, Crystal (Nick), Jennifer (Douglass), Kyle (Chelsea), Pamela, Nicholas, Savannah and 11 great grandchildren. Sister of Willis (Pat), and the late Lewis (Vivian).
Gloria will also be dearly missed by the many friends she made over the years. Whether it was from a night out dancing, helping the neighbours in whatever way she could or someone she just met on the street, she would chat for hours with you if you’d let her. Gloria somehow knew all the gossip around the neighbourhood. She would tell you story after story filling you in on anything you may have missed, but only if you came in and had a cup of tea with her first. A visit with Gloria always ended with “come again when you can stay longer”.
Mom. Doud. Nana. We love you and we will miss you forever but we will live on to make you proud. The imprint you left on our hearts will remain forever in our memories.
Friends are invited to call at Ross Funeral Chapel on Thursday June 8, 2023 from 7 – 9 p.m.
Service will be held at Ross Funeral Chapel, Port Hope on Friday June 9, 2023 at 12 noon with visiting one hour prior.
The family has asked for privacy at the cemetery but a reception will be held at 5986 Ganaraska Road, Campbellcroft, all are welcome to join.
