Obituary for Gerald George "Jerry" Byers

Gerald George "Jerry" Byers
Byers, Gerald George
Peacefully at home in Port Hope on Friday June 8th, 2018 in his 82nd year. Loving father of Diane Elder (Tracy), and Scott Byers (Claudia). Grandfather of Alexander, and Thomas Elder, Emma, and Bethany Byers. Brother of John of Grafton, Helen Shannon of Peterborough, Wayne of Port Hope, Donna McCrone of Vancouver Island, and the late Glen Byers. Jerry will also be missed by Carolyn Byers, and his many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Jerry enjoyed collectibles and was an automotive enthusiast with extensive knowledge of heritage and classic automobiles that he enjoyed sharing with fellow enthusiasts. Jerry was recently acknowledged as a 50-year member of the Antique Automobile Club of America as well as a member of the Antique and Classic Car Club of Canada, to which he gave many years of service. Jerry enjoyed 20 years of retirement from hobby farming and his career at the Goodyear plant in Bowmanville. He was able to enjoy many winters at the trailerpark with his friends in Florida. He always made time for his family and friends and was known as a hard working man who had an ear for fiddle music, and well-worn dance shoes.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Jerry's caregivers, friends, and neighbours who consistently supported him throughout his final years.
Service will be held at Ross Funeral Chapel, on Friday June 15, 2018 at 1 p.m. with visiting two hours prior.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to The Kidney Foundation or to the charity of your choice may be received at www.rossfuneralchapel.com
